Inventory Interface to Job Costing

These are a few examples of the reports available to your company. There are many variations on these and other reports too numerous to display each of them here.

Job Costing tracks the actual costs of a job, creates invoices for the work done and compares the results to the estimated costs. While performing these functions it updates general ledger for profit and loss reporting and update inventory quantities as items are issued to jobs. The interface with inventory is critical to the easy management of these functions. Performing an Inventory Issue to a job is very simple. At the time the item is issued to a job the cost of the item is retrieved from inventory for accurate reporting. To begin the process start a new job cost transaction.

Add the job to the record by double clicking on the job name. Many other methods could be used to get the job number on the transaction. It could be keyed, the Add to button could be clicked, the job could be highlighted and Enter pressed or the job could be dragged to the transaction and dropped. Only ActiveApplications gives you this range of methods. In addition a large number of import sources are allowed. Once the job number is on the transaction.

Item information can be added in the same way.

Key the quantity issued to the job and the cost is retrieved from the inventory application and added to the transaction automatically.

Save the transaction and ledger Work in Process entries are made if WIP is active for this job type, the inventory updated and the cost is added to the ledger system as a work in process entry if appropriate. The transaction is also listed in the Costing Transaction View.

Transactions can come from many sources. They could come automatically from the AA Point of Sale Application. Many other sources such as estimates and Pocket PC applications are supported too. 

The report samples displayed in these examples are captured directly from the report program that generates the report. Built into every UDS report is the ability to view it on the screen or place the report directly into Word or Excel format if those applications are available on your computer. Export it into one of several other file formats is available, too. 

Easy integration into Microsoft Office is a priority with UDS programming staff. You will be more productive when using Active Applications because of the Office integration features.
